Strawberry Shortcake Trifle

A delightful and refreshing Strawberry Shortcake Trifle layers fluffy cake, fresh strawberries, and creamy whipped topping to create a no-bake dessert perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 pound pound cake or angel food cake, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix sliced strawberries with granulated sugar and let sit for 15 minutes to macerate.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form to make whipped cream.
  3. Layer half of the cake cubes in the bottom of a large trifle bowl or individual glasses.
  4. Top the cake layer with half of the macerated strawberries, including the juices.
  5. Add a layer of half the whipped cream over the strawberries.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining cake, strawberries, and whipped cream.
  7. Refrigerate the trifle for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
  8. Garnish with additional fresh strawberries on top if desired.

Notes

For added flavor, drizzle a little strawberry or balsamic syrup between the layers or substitute pound cake with sponge cake for a lighter texture.
