Delight in these easy-to-make strawberry shortcake cups featuring layers of tender cake, fresh strawberries, and whipped cream for a perfect sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 package (8 ounces) angel food cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine sliced strawberries and granulated sugar. Let macerate for 15 minutes until juicy.
  2. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  3. In serving cups, layer angel food cake cubes, macerated strawberries, and whipped cream.
  4. Repeat layering until cup is filled, ending with a dollop of whipped cream and a strawberry slice on top.
  5. Chill in refrigerator for 30 minutes before serving for best flavor.

Notes

For an extra burst of flavor, add a drizzle of balsamic glaze over the strawberries before layering, or swap angel food cake for pound cake for a richer texture.
