Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warm
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp orange zest (from about 1 large orange)
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • For the glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tbsp fresh orange juice, 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add eggs, melted butter, orange zest, orange juice, remaining sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Roll dough out into a 15×9 inch rectangle.
  7. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle evenly over the dough.
  8. Roll dough tightly from the long edge into a log and cut into 12 equal slices.
  9. Place rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Mix powdered sugar, orange juice, and vanilla extract to make glaze.
  12. Drizzle glaze over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

For extra zest, add a teaspoon of orange extract to the glaze or sprinkle chopped toasted pecans on top.
