Ginger-Spiced Cranberry Sauce

Ginger-Spiced Cranberry Sauce

A vibrant cranberry sauce elevated with warm ginger and a hint of citrus, perfect for adding a zesty twist to your holiday meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Zest and juice of 1 orange
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water and sugar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Add the fresh cranberries, grated ginger, ground cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg to the saucepan.
  3. Stir in the orange zest and juice. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
  4. Simmer gently, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens, about 12–15 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Allow the sauce to cool to room temperature before transferring to a serving dish or jar. Refrigerate until chilled.

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, add a splash of bourbon or a pinch of cayenne pepper before serving. This sauce pairs beautifully with roasted turkey or grilled pork.
