Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients, then fold in sour cream until dough forms.
  6. Roll out dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness.
  7. Use an Easter egg-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies and place them on prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow cookies to cool completely on wire racks before decorating.
  10. Mix royal icing with food coloring gels to create vibrant colors.
  11. Decorate cookies using piping bags, add sprinkles or edible decorations as desired.
  12. Let icing set completely before serving or packaging.
