  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Place cooked shredded chicken, chicken broth, carrots, celery, onion, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper into the crockpot. Stir to combine.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until vegetables are tender.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and melted butter until a soft dough forms.
  4. Drop dumpling dough by spoonfuls onto the surface of the chicken mixture in the crockpot.
  5. Cover and cook on high for an additional 30-45 minutes until dumplings are cooked through and fluffy.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of heavy cream before adding dumplings. Serve with a side of steamed green beans or a crisp salad for a complete meal.
