Classic Tuna Noodle Casserole

A comforting and easy-to-make Classic Tuna Noodle Casserole featuring tender noodles, flaky tuna, and a creamy mushroom sauce baked to golden perfection.

  • 2 cups egg noodles
  • 1 can (5 oz) tuna, drained
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook egg noodles according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup, milk, drained tuna, peas, chopped onion, and half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Stir in the cooked noodles until well coated.
  5. Transfer mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. In a small bowl, combine breadcrumbs, melted butter, and remaining cheddar cheese. Sprinkle evenly over the casserole.
  7. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, or until bubbly and golden on top.
  8. Remove from oven and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra crunch, try topping the casserole with crushed potato chips or fried onions instead of breadcrumbs.
