Classic Garlic Butter Shrimp Scampi

A quick and flavorful garlic butter shrimp scampi, perfect for a delicious weeknight dinner featuring succulent shrimp tossed in a rich garlic sauce.

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine or chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Cooked pasta or crusty bread, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and crushed red pepper flakes, sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and cook until pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  4. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Pour in the white wine (or chicken broth) and lemon juice, simmer for 2 minutes to reduce slightly.
  6. Stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter until melted and the sauce is smooth.
  7. Return the shrimp to the skillet, toss to coat in the sauce, and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
  8. Serve immediately over cooked pasta or with crusty bread.

Notes

For extra flavor, garnish with lemon zest or add a splash of cream for a richer sauce.
