Caramelized BBQ Chicken Thighs in the Oven

These Caramelized BBQ Chicken Thighs are oven-baked to perfection with a sweet and smoky glaze that creates a deliciously sticky and flavorful crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Pat the chicken thighs dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear chicken thighs skin-side down until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes.
  5. Transfer chicken to a baking dish and brush generously with the BBQ sauce mixture.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, basting with sauce halfway through, until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce is caramelized.
  7. Remove from oven and let rest 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra smoky flavor, add a dash of liquid smoke to the BBQ sauce or serve with grilled corn and coleslaw.
