Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan

A healthier take on the classic Italian favorite, Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan features a crispy breadcrumb coating and melted cheese, cooked to perfection in the air fryer for a quick, delicious meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cooking spray
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the chicken breasts in half horizontally to create thinner cutlets.
  3. Set up a breading station with three bowls: flour mixed with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano; beaten eggs; and a mixture of breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan.
  4. Dredge each chicken cutlet first in the flour, then dip into the eggs, and finally coat evenly with the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Lightly spray each breaded cutlet with cooking spray to help them crisp.
  6. Place the cutlets in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they do not overlap.
  7. Air fry for 10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Remove the basket and spoon marinara sauce over each cutlet, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top.
  9. Return to the air fryer for another 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired and serve hot.

Notes

For an extra crispy coating, use panko breadcrumbs or add a little grated Pecorino Romano to the mixture. Serve with spaghetti or a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
