Warm and comforting Spice Pear Cobbler is the perfect autumn dessert. Tender pears baked under a spiced biscuit topping make this a crowd-pleasing treat.

  • 6 medium pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine sliced pears, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and lemon juice. Toss to coat.
  3. Pour pear mixture into a 9-inch baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Stir in milk until just combined. Do not overmix.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of biscuit dough evenly over the pear mixture.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.
