Homemade Soft Cheesy Onion Bread Delight

This soft and cheesy onion bread is incredibly flavorful and easy to make. It’s the perfect appetizer or side dish, loaded with caramelized onions and gooey cheese.

  • 1 loaf (1 pound) Italian bread
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are soft and caramelized, about 20-25 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, combine cream cheese and mayonnaise until smooth.
  5. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  6. Top with caramelized onions, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, try adding a sprinkle of garlic powder or onion powder to the cream cheese mixture.
