Slow Cooker Beef Brisket

Tender and flavorful, this Slow Cooker Beef Brisket is perfect for a comforting family dinner with minimal effort. Slow-cooked to juicy perfection, it’s a classic American comfort dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 to 4 pounds beef brisket
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Pat the beef brisket dry and season it evenly with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on both sides until browned, about 4 minutes per side.
  3. Place the sliced onions and minced garlic in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  4. Transfer the seared brisket on top of the onions and garlic.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, tomato paste, and smoked paprika.
  6. Pour the sauce mixture over the brisket in the slow cooker.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the brisket is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  8. Remove the brisket from the slow cooker and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing against the grain.
  9. Serve with the onions and sauce spooned on top. Enjoy with mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the brisket overnight in the sauce before cooking. Leftovers make great sandwiches the next day.
