Amazing Slow Cooker Beef and Cheddar Sandwich

Tender, flavorful beef slow-cooked to perfection and piled high on toasted buns with melted cheddar cheese. These Slow Cooker Beef and Cheddar Sandwiches are an easy and delicious weeknight meal the whole family will love.

Ingredients

  • 3 lb boneless chuck roast
  • 1 packet (1 oz) dry au jus gravy mix
  • 1 packet (1 oz) dry ranch dressing mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 12 cheddar cheese slices
  • 10 hamburger buns, split
  • Optional: Horseradish sauce or creamy coleslaw for topping

Instructions

  1. Place chuck roast in the slow cooker.
  2. Sprinkle au jus gravy mix and ranch dressing mix over the roast.
  3. Pour water over the mixture.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or on high for 4-5 hours, until the beef is very tender and easily shreds.
  5. Remove the roast from the slow cooker and shred with two forks. Return the shredded beef to the slow cooker and stir to coat with the juices.
  6. While the beef is still warm, place 2-3 slices of cheddar cheese on each portion of the beef. Allow the cheese to melt slightly.
  7. Toast the hamburger buns if desired.
  8. Spoon the cheesy beef onto the bottom half of each bun.
  9. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately. Optional: Add horseradish sauce or coleslaw.

Notes

For an extra kick, add a tablespoon of your favorite hot sauce to the slow cooker. Serve with a side of your favorite chips or fries.
