Shrimp Dirty Rice is a flavorful Cajun-inspired dish combining spicy shrimp with seasoned rice and vegetables for a hearty, comforting meal.

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup diced celery
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add diced onion, bell pepper, and celery; sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Season the shrimp with Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Add shrimp to the skillet and cook until pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Stir in the cooked rice and mix well to combine all ingredients evenly.
  7. Cook for an additional 3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  8. Remove from heat, garnish with sliced green onions and chopped parsley.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For extra heat, add more cayenne pepper or serve with hot sauce on the side.
