Classic Loco Moco on a Plate

This Loco Moco Hawaiian Bowl is a comforting and flavorful dish featuring a juicy hamburger patty served over rice, smothered in gravy, and topped with a fried egg. A taste of the islands in every bite!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cooked white rice
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 egg
  • Optional: Green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season ground beef with salt and pepper. Form into a patty.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the hamburger patty for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, creating a roux.
  4. Slowly pour in beef broth, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
  5. Add soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the gravy has thickened.
  6. While the gravy simmers, fry the egg to your desired doneness.
  7. Assemble the bowl: Place rice in a bowl, top with the hamburger patty, smother with gravy, and top with the fried egg.
  8. Garnish with green onions, if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

For an extra touch of Hawaiian flavor, add a slice of grilled pineapple to the bowl!
