Homemade Drop Biscuits and Sausage Gravy Recipe

Homemade Drop Biscuits and Sausage Gravy on a Rustic Plate

These are the best drop biscuits I’ve ever made! They are flaky, buttery, and so easy to make, ready in under 30 minutes! I’ve included a simple sausage gravy recipe as well, but you can use any gravy you like. This recipe is seriously amazing!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
  3. Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add buttermilk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Drop by spoonfuls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. Serve hot with sausage gravy.

Notes

For extra flavor, brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter before baking.
