Homemade Caramelized Pear Pie on a Rustic Table

Indulge in the warm flavors of autumn with this Caramelized Pear Pie. Sweet, tender pears are caramelized to perfection and baked in a flaky, golden crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 ripe pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 box (14.1 ounces) refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Turbinado sugar, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add pear slices and sugar. Cook, stirring occasionally, until pears are softened and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Stir in vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Line a pie dish with one pie crust.
  4. Pour the caramelized pear mixture into the pie crust.
  5. Top with the second pie crust. Crimp the edges to seal. Cut vents in the top crust.
  6. Brush the top crust with beaten egg wash and sprinkle with turbinado sugar.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  8. Let cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes
