Teriyaki Sauce

This classic Teriyaki Sauce is a sweet and savory Japanese glaze perfect for marinating, dipping, or drizzling over your favorite dishes. Made with simple ingredients, it delivers rich umami flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, water, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Stir the cornstarch slurry again to recombine and slowly add it to the saucepan while stirring.
  4. Continue cooking for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using as a marinade, sauce, or glaze.

Notes

For a smoky twist, add 1 teaspoon of toasted sesame oil or sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds before serving.
