Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • Orange zest, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, toss chicken pieces with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken in batches until lightly browned on all sides (about 2-3 minutes per side). Don’t overcrowd the pan.
  4. Transfer seared chicken to the prepared baking sheet.
  5. In a medium saucepan, whisk together orange juice, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil.
  6. Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce heat to low and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
  7. Pour the orange sauce over the chicken on the baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce is bubbly and slightly caramelized.
  9. Garnish with orange zest and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Serve over rice or noodles with steamed broccoli for a complete meal. For extra crispy chicken, broil for the last 1-2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
